ABOUT THIS EPISODE

This is a Podcast where Zach and Adam give their controversial and extremely bias Championship Predictions.(make sure you follow us on Tiktok, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)

Hello, guys, and welcome to another last minute when a podcast here, and it is, and it's the one that you have all been waiting for. It is the most impossible division to predict in the whole of English football. It is the championship, and I am joined with a special guest. Finally. Now we will be doing our EFL championship predictions today. I did promise you that we would have a guest. If you want to follow us on social media, follow us on Tiktok, instagram, twitter or facebook. You can also visit our website at last minute when a dot net. Anyway, let's move on now. Who Have you put in twenty four? By the way, it's me, Zach's Dad, reign of football. Watford, Watford Hat. What is your reasoning behind putting whatford twenty four? I don't like Watford. Alright, okay, yeah, that sounds very reasonable. Now I have pup an actual reasonable team on twenty four. I have put Rotheram. Now I think that they are not going to have a good season because they've lost their two best players in Michael Smith and equally Um, I don't know how you pronounced his name. If you haven't noticed, they've they've shined, Tommy EAVES and Peter Kio. So but I don't think it's going to be enough. Okay, moving on to twenty three, and who have you put in twenty position? Wigan. Wigan, now we agree. Actually, first of all, I'm ashamed to say that I agree with that Um. Now, why do you why have you put wiggin? They have only made one transfer in the transfer window this season. Is that party? Yeah, that's one of the reasons. I just think that they're you know, there's in that part of the world that unfortunately the wiggins, but Alton's they are...

...somewhat overshadowed. So I just don't think that they are. They're going to cut it in the championship. Yeah, they've got they've got some talented players such as calum Lang, will Keenan, obviously are well known, James Mcclain who, if he scores against us, he'll probably celebrate very highly. came. Moving on to twenty second. Now, who have you put in the second position? Huddersfield. Huddersfield, now that's another bold prediction. Now there are a lot of people I don't think they're going to finish as high, but why have you put Huddersfield. They have lost their probably their three standout players of last season. They've also lost their standout manager of last season. So I think it's going to be a big adjustment this season. They did very well last season, but I think many would think that they possibly overachieved. Yeah, they definitely overachieved. Now one I have put reading. Now they fit. I think they finished maybe twenty one last season as well. There they although they did have a seven point deduction. I think this squad depth is going to be a problem for reading. They have signed Jeff Hendrick and Shay Long from Southampton and I think it's Newcastle. They've also signed our our player, Tom Ince. But yeah, I don't think they're gonna have enough to stay in the no, I think they're going to have enough to stay in the championship, but just on the skin of their teeth. Now moving on to and I have put Birmingham Um, a team that I think I've had an okay transfer window. I think it's going to be enough to keep them another year in the championship. But squad depth is going to be a problem with the financial stuff going on behind the scenes. The WHO view put place. We Agree Birmingham. Think they're going to struggle. Maybe they'll...

...just be above maybe they won't keep it, but I can't see them do particularly highly. But can I just go back to my twenty one please, because you didn't ask me that. Oh Yeah, Oh yes, I'm really sorry. Actually, have you got one? Luton? The reason I put Luton at twenty one is I am just not convinced with the Nathan Jones bubble. I think it will bounce, it will burst at some point and I think he had a good season last year, but if you look at him against some of the better teams, I don't think they don't think he's going to do anything. Luten, I mean they have. They have lost their captain to Bristol City. You will get onto the second kind, Nay Smith. They've brought in the Nottingham Forest back upkeeper. They brought in Colton Morris and Colly Wood Rove from Barnsley. They've also brought in our exciting left winger, former exciting left winger, Alphie Dote. Now the reason I've put Birmingham is I just don't think they're going to have enough anywhere. Moving on to now, have you gone for in place I've gone for Blackpool. Admittedly, this sort of stretch of the table, the next attempt places are pretty impossible to predict, so it's sort of process of elimination. Blackpool obviously came up last season, had a decent run of it, did quite well, but I don't think that they produced enough to sustain their place in the championship, or at least in the upper half of the championship. Yeah, I think that I put them in twenty second, obviously, but I think if they can, if they can hold on to Josh Bowler, they will stay up, although it doesn't look likely at the moment. They have signed Rees Williams on loan from Liverpool. But anyway, moving on to our eighteenth place, which I have put a reversal one. But will start with yourself reading.

Yes, the once Premier League team reading seemed to be a long way away from the when they were. They had their brief deliens in the in the Premier League. Again, difficult to predict. Redding could be eighteenth, they could be eighth, they could be twenty four. But my process of elimination again, I'm going to have to go eight from game. Guys were probably not going to get any of these correct because it's just so impossible. I have gone for Blackburn. Rovers I think they're managing to hold on to Ben Barreton Diaz. Obviously I think he failed a medical at a Syria Club. They have signed Ethan Walker and Callum Brittain, which are too probably league one and league one players. But yeah, I don't think they're going to have a great season. They've also lost Tony Mowbray and yeah, I think it's going to be a disappointment, disappointing season for the team from Lancashire. Okay, moving on to seventeenth. Now who have you gone with? Yes, very good points, very good arguments about the about Blackburn there, Zack, and I'm already rethinking mine and I'm especially rethinking this one because the whole city, although obviously haven't had the best of luck in the championship here with my seventeen place team, they have got new owners, new quite wealthy owners. So I'm looking at that and I'm already starting to change my mind. But I've made the decision. sevent yeah, now we'll gon, we'll we'll get onto hole in a second. But I have gone with Bristol City. Have obviously brought in the captain from Luton. I think Andrea's Virman is going to bang him in for the third season running. I think they're going to have a decent season under Nigel Pearson, but I don't think this team, like...

...other people are predicted, are going to go places that they don't belong. Now, moving going back to the whole city, they have signed Figurado, who got promoted with Forest Osan to fan, who spent the season alone with Watford but didn't have the Great John Michel Sara as well, who was once wanted by Barcelona a few seasons ago. They brought him in on a free, and Nathan Baxter, alias Sidemanis Oscar St p Nan. So I won't be talking about the whole for a little while. I think they're going to have a brilliant season this season, but you'll see where I put there now. Moving on to sixteenth. Now, where have you put sixteen again? Another one which written there, and I'm thinking maybe they will finish a bit better, particularly with their recent acquisition the former Stoke Captain Joe Allen. So yeah, I'm feeling a little bit uncomfortable here with me holding Miss Swansea's but nevertheless sixteen swansea. Well, you've made me rethink, Mike, because I agree as well. I've put Swansea in Sixte I think, although they have signed Joe Allen, who was brilliant last season Stoke. He has been brilliant for Stoke for the past six seven years. But they have lost flynn downs to West Ham for nine point six million. I think they've managed to hold on to what's his name, Matt Grimes, although I've heard that stoke have been hunting around him. So I think it's going to be sixteenth. I've started to have my doubts, but I'm going to say COMP COMP confidently now. That's Swansea. Said you're going to finish sixte now moving on to your fifteenth position, Numerous Fifteen, I've gone for Rotherham again, a mid table. I probably have them lower, but they're just tricky to beat Rotherham. So that since my my number fifteen. Well, they were until they lost...

Michael E K O A and Michael Smith. Now I think obviously they're going to be rock bottom. But I have put and I'm looking at this one and I'm looking at the transfer business, that they've done, and I'm reconsidering this one. I've got to put millwall in. I don't know, maybe they should be around the top six. They've signed George Honeymoon, the the duo from Lee's, Charlie Cresswell Jamie Shackleton. They've also signed Bennefitobe, who wasn't great for stoke in his period. But Anyway, m moving on to and who have you gone with? Well, they gained these mid table places are difficult to predict, so I've gone with millwall. So similar thinking. Really, they are a tough team to beat, or at least they have been a tough team to beat. I'm not sure how how well they're going to fair, particularly under under under Gary Rowl it. When they came to the about three, six five earlier in the year, they well, let's just say they created even a less than still created. Yeah, which is hard. I wasn't unfortunately, couldn't make that game, which was disappointed because it was the first time we'd won in about ten games. Jacob Brown scored and Jack Bonner saved a penalty as well, and I can't remember who scored a second goal. Could you you know what? I can't remember frankly, hooks to know to the potters. So you know to them, my s potters. Now moving on to a thirty. No, sorry, I haven't done my pick. I have gone with a team that you tip to go down, hodges field, who were third last season, so that's a bold prediction. But they've lost Harry Tuffalo and Lewis O'Brien to forest. They've also lost va Cole world, WHO's returned on a loan. They've also signed Tino...

...and Joran on loan from Chelsea. Is Unproven in the championship, so let's see how he does. We'll get onto another one of those Jaden Philigene bidass but anyway, moving on to now, have you put in your possession? Possession again, another trick. You want to predict Middlesbro Middlesbro Oh, I'm not sure I agree with you on that one. But why have you gone with Middlesbrough? I'm not sure I agree with myself again, just difficult to predict. I think Middlesborough had a reasonable, well difficult to beat season under near Warnock, but since then they seem to be a team in in relative decline and also there was a risk of them being overshadowed by their tea side neighbors who were their tea side neighbors, or the northeast neighbors, I should say Sunderland. All Right, I'm not too sure about that. I've got Middlesbrough and not yeah, Middlesbrough quite high up. They have signed Ryan Giles, too, impress with Blackburn and Cardiff last season. They've also signed the young Lad Zack Stephan, who we talked about in our first ever podcast when he made those two mistakes. But that is a very good signing, and also the recent one, I think was confirmed yesterday, to Tommy Smith, has signed for Middlesbrough. He was brilliant last season, dad's favorite player for the mighty potters, and also marcus fours for three point two million. Also darryllly Lenny Han as well from Blackburn Rovers who was brilliant for them. Now I have gone with and Wei. Yeah, we are on Um. I have gone with Coventry City. Now I think dad's got a higher up as he hasn't mentioned them. Yeah, I think it's going to be an not...

...at mid table finish for Coventry city. They've signed Casey Palmer from Bristol Callum Doyle from Manchester City and Jonathan Panzo on loan from Nottingham Forest. They've also signed Teo Ada Romola on loan from Crystal Palace. They've kept all of their standout players from last season. So I think, yeah, they're gonna comfortably finish in this mid table spot. Now moving on to twelfth. Now have you gone with for Twelfth Position? Coventry? Coventry. Now it seems like I put them twelve, you put them, you put them, I put them thirteen. It seems to be were one off. But Anyway, why have you gone with Coventry again? A difficulty to beat. It seems to be that the Rico is a very, very difficult place to go and win. They've got a big following home and away, and but I don't think that they're going to be able to produce the goods to get any higher. So I'm predicting somewhere around mid table, somewhere around twelve. There you go. Yeah, anyway, move so I've got to. I've put Luton town in twelfth. Now. I think I had to escape the bias nous off putting Luton low down. I think you've probably put them low down because you don't like Nathan Jones. I do not like to from Jones either, but I've put them twelve. I think they've managed to keep the squad last season. They have lost Kay Nay Smith, which is a big one, but they have managed to keep Harry Cornick, Elijah Adebeo, Tom Locker. We's bucking all of those players that made them so good last season. Anyway, moving on to eleventh. Now, who have you put in eleventh? Bla Blackburn? Now I put I think I put them in eightee. Now, why have you gone with Blackburn? I think that they're a good team, good following, but obviously, listening to to you're very compelling. The arguments,...

I'm wondering whether I've put them a bit too high. But you know, bearing in mind this is a team that has has has turned stoke over a few too many times in that division. So I think that very difficult to underestimate. But then, of course, yeah, we we lost to them one and like the about three five stadium last season. We also beat them with a Jacob Brown goal in the fourth minute. Anyway, moving on to my eleventh pick. Now I have gone for a team that no one would have predicted. That predicted this high. Apart from now, they're brilliant transfer window that has blown teams away. Pressed in north end they have signed Freddie Woodman, whom showed his class two seasons ago with Swansea, David Cornell from Peterborough, goalkeeper who was okay for Peterborough. I think he's going to be mostly back up Robbie Brady, Ben Woodman, Troy Parrod and Alva Borrow Fernandez from Manchester United. But yeah, I think it's I think it's going to be a decent season for the Lancashire side. Um. But yeah, so we differ on opinions in this one. Now we move on to tenth place. Now, where have you put tenth place? And so we're getting the pattern is emerging. I think they're a good team. They are pretty, pretty, pretty good team. Big Team, big following, always unpredictable place to go to, a nice place like Preston. I've got a bit of a soft spot for that, for for them as one of the great established historical football league royalty. So that's they are ten. Yeah, no, I have put QPR in tenth. I think they managed to hold onto Chris Willock, an alias chair for the moment. They've also lost Charlie Austin and your one barbee and do Bejo, but I think you know they brought in some citing players such a tyler robbitts and Jake Clark psalter. I think...

...is going to be a decent season, but maybe an underwhelming season for some opt to bus nick optimistic QPR fans that came. Moving on to ninth position. Now, who have you gone with? R ninth position, QPR. So again the pattern is emerging. I think we've had a pretty even um opinion in this why have you gone with QPR again? We I know that we we did the Double Armand last year, which was great, especially as we are our American friends visiting at the time. However, I do think that again, rather similar to your your Rochdales and whatnot. They are they are overshadowed where they are and I don't think that they're ever gonna, ever going to get back to the premier league in the foreseeable yes, so let's let's just have a quick to eight. Now. Who Do you think is the bigger well shoted? Swansea or Cardiff? Yeah, that's gonna hurt a lot of people. Now I've actually gone with Cardiff for ninth that they have had a very good transform and know they've brought in two of our good players last season, Romaine so as an exciting winger, Jaden philagene beard ass. They've also signed Cedric Kipley and Calamo Dowder, also, not to mention about Adams from forest green, who would look to be a good player. We've also got aiden flint off them stoke. If you haven't noticed, we are both stoke fans now. So you've put QPR and ninth. I have put Cardiff in ninth. Okay, moving up to eighth place. Eighth Face Sunderland. took him a little while to get up, back up to the championship following the tric for from the Premier League. But new owners, new owners...

...who seem to be studying the ship some what, and I like to see something and up there because, as I say again, another one of the football league royalties. Yeah, they have signed our former Aloney Jack Clark, for ten million from totten end of also signed Daniel Ballard from Arsenal. But I have gone with eighth place. I've gone with another controversial one, whole city. We have mentioned. They've had a great transfer window, but I think new owners strikes a good future. They could easily get into the playoffs, I think whole. They are a big club. We saw him in the Premier League nearly five years ago now, how time flies. But anyway, moving on to seventh place. Now, who have you gone with the seventh place? Cardiff. I think you've been having a bit of a peek at my notes, have you? No. No, chose card if. I think again, they seem to be forward thinking. Are they are a big club and they have had some pretty pretty decent signings of like permanent and on loan. So yes, I think card if. I have a possibility of getting up there now. Yeah, do you think they will be? Do you think there's going to be a big gap between six and seventh, or do you think they're going to miss out slightly? Too Difficult to say. I think it's going to be tight and they could be one of twenty teams up in the playoff spots. Yeah, anyway, I'M gonna put Middlesbrough there, and I think this is just sparked. I think Tommy Smith is easily one of the best fullbacks in the League, which is why I've put middles but there they've also got Zack Stephen in on loan. I think it's been a good they are going to lose. I think looks like they're gonna lose Marcus Tavanne obviously James Tavner, the Rangers captain's brother. But yeah, I think Middlesbrough are going to be pipped by my sixth place, but we'll get onto them in a second. Right. Who Have you put in in...

...sixth place? Bristol, Bristol. Why have you put Bristol? That is a big you know, there are a difficult team to be. I'm not a huge fan of the manager, but by Golly, he's he's Mr Pearson. Puts together some teams and he's difficult to be it's those types of managers who unfortunately thriving championship. It's not a division for managers who want to play football, but it is a division for tricksters, jokesters and the disruptors such as Mr Pearson. Yeah, they have got Carl Nay Smith in online from Luton, who we have mentioned a lot in which I think is probably one of the signings of the summer, especially from where Luton and Bristol the difference between those two signs. Obviously he sees a potential in Bristol. Now I've gone with six. Now I've gone with an optimistic prediction for the mighty potters because I think stoke are going to go and sick. We've had a decent transfer window, I think. Obviously Dad hasn't said them, so we've obviously predicted both of them in the playoffs. Now Right, I've gone with Stoke, particularly for one man. I think he was the difference between stoke finishing twelfth and Stoke finishing sick. Down in his Dwight Gail. He is a massive goal score. He's got experience in this division. He is going to fire US single handedly into the playoffs. We've also signed leam mccarre and Josh Lawrence, aiden Flint, Harry Clark, Gavin Kilkenny and the exciting one, Williams small bone. We're after where. I think terrence can go low, as I've heard, the former Huddersfield and fuller manner came. Moving on to five. And who have you put in fifth place? Burnley, Burnley, that is I think that's a justified prediction. Why have you gone with Burnley?...

They've put in the premier league a long time and I think they had not the best season last season, particularly losing their first while manager. However, I think that they're too bigger club to struggle. I'm not saying that they're automatically going to be going up, but they have a good chance. Yeah, they do have a good chance. They've signed our former Loney Taylor, Harvard bellis. Also are Johannet Murrick, who is most recent one, Ian Ian Martinson, Scott Twine, the poshes man in football, they say. But anyway, moving on to my fifth pick. Now I've gone with Sheffield Unied, who narrowly missed the player final on penalties due to a Bryce samber master class. But I think they're going to get into the playoffs once again. But yet again, I think they're gonna lose again. Now who who have you gone oh no, I've already said who you've gone with in fifth. That came. Moving on to fourth place. Who Have you gone with in fourth? Sheffield United. Sheffield United. Now I put them in fifth. Why have you gone with Sheffield United? I think Sheffield United. And again, another another big team. They looked. I think a lot of Sheffield united fans were quite optimistic when they went up that they would be able to sustain their position. They didn't. I think that it was partly due to, you know, a bit of a bit of bad luck more than anything, just in similar to how stoke went down. But I think they're in the process of rebuilding. It started off last season quite you know, Niu disastrous for them, and they managed to pull it back. So I would be I would be surprised if if they don't finish in or in or around the playoffs. Yeah, yeah, they have signed Tommy Doyle as well, player who spent on time on loan on Cardiff. They've also signed redder Adera online from Brighton. We saw his class against black when. They've...

...also signed Kieran Clark, who we were after, obvious premier league quality defender. So yeah, I think they're gonna have a good season. But do you think they're going to go up? M maybe two, difficulty anyway. Moving on to fourth place, and I think no. Sorry, my fourth place is no. Rich. Now that is a very controversial one because most people there are there are a massive Yodo club. They have signed Isaac Hadian and Gabrielle Sarah, but I think I think this is going to be the season where, noted finally do not walk the championship. I could be wrong. I probably maybe wrong, but and I'm most likely wrong, but I think this is more of a hopeful pick more than an actual pick, because I think they may finish in their daughter metics. But yes, so Norwich in fourth place. Now moving on to third place, and I hope you put in third place. I haven't mentioned West Brom have we? And they've probably been a message from our list so far. But I think, I think West Brom you know, do have the subbits, have been able to rejuvenation, reinvent themselves. So I'm thinking that they have again a little bit of bad luck last season, not least by I think. Didn't we do the double on them? Yea, yeah, we did, actually. So, yes, yeah, that's why. Yeah, I have gone for my third I've also gone with West Bromwich Chilby, and they've had a great transfer window. Is Short and sweet one, bringing in, okay, you'R Kuzlu from Salto, ego, Jed Wallace from Millwall and John Swift from reading, I think. Yeah, also not to mention Jason Olumbi from Brighton. Yeah, West Brom Child. They're probably going to go work for the playoffs,...

...as it pays me to say, as I would love the mighty plotters to go into the premier league. But yeah, anyway, moving on to our top to night, you haven't mentioned stoke, which I think is completely biased. I would have thought that you would put them in the playoffs if and that's even biased my thing. But have you put them in second? No, right, okay, this is going who have you put in second? Norwich. Why have you put Norwich in second? Then? I just think I'm predicting a big season for Delia Smith. I'm expecting a lot of where are you, let's be having you, which will, in turn, as it did previously, inspire the canaries to get back where they'd be. Like now I have now I have put a team that you put twenty two places below me. I've put WHATFORD. Now, that is a completely biased opinion. That's that's just the world. I think that's probably one of the worst predictions. That or your first pick. But yeah, I have put what Watford in second. They've signed Raymond Naj from Barcelona as well. But yeah, I think they're gonna have too much to stay down I think they also have lost the cycling G K in Ben Foster. They have lost Andrew Gray, Muss is so co but I think it's going to be yet again a season that they go up and maybe Watford are going to be there, new Yo Yo club. Now moving on to first place. And why have you put Stoke City in First Place? Because they are, as a song goes, in twenty five thousand people can't be wrong. They are by far the best team the world has ever seen. Right. Okay, now I've gone with the more realistic and the last buyers pick. I've gone with Burnley.

Now we're gonna have to speed this up because we are in the half an hour mark. But yeah, I've gone with Bernard because they've got an exciting manager in at Vincent Company. They've signed a Josh Cullen as well Scott Twine, as we've mentioned. Yeah, I think. I think Burnley going to walk this league. They could easily get one hundred points in yeah, anyway, so that was our predictions. Let us know where you're wrong. I think it's gonna be a few thanks to a dad putting stoke in first and Watford in twenty four.
